I’m so tired of pushing my furshlugginer lawn mower around my yard. With each passing year the job gets harder. So I bought a new toy to make the job easier and more fun. Learning to drive it is like learning to drive a stick shift. There are levers to get familiar with: deck height, blades engage, forward-neutral-reverse, speed control/parking brake, and a clutch that goes from 0 to 100 percent engagement with nothing in between. There’s no slipping the clutch to make a smooth start. No matter how slowly I ease the pedal out, there comes a point where the machine jolts forward and I’m off to the races. At its fastest setting, that mower can fly. And each trip across the yard mows a strip of grass (or in the case of my yard, weeds) 42 inches wide. Woo-hoo! Should have bought one of these a long time ago.
