VirtualWayne’s Quick Muffaletta

Here’s an idea for a quick lunch. Of course, not having any ingredients on hand will make it much less quick.

Start with a loaf of Italian bread. Cut it in half and scoop out some of the doughy bread.

On one half add:

Ham:

On the other half add:

Sliced salad olives
Drizzle with
 extra virgin olive oil:

Hot banana pepper rings
Onion rings:

Close the loaf and slice it:

Wrap the leftover portions and put in the fridge or freezer.

Mmmmm..... Mufalata! Haven't made one of those in years. Maybe I should put that on the list now that I have a little more money coming in. I usually wrap it in foil and bake it for (a while?) til all is nice & warm. Bwa-hahaha....! Most excellent! Once again, you show the world that you are da man!

The muffaletta is best if it is heated before being eaten. The "wrap and bake" method is best, but often I'll just nuke it. That makes the insides warm and tasty but unfortunately toughens the bread somewhat. Also, letting it sit in the fridge for a few hours will enhance the flavor.
